Pismo Beach Volleyball Club was founded in 2013 to fill the much needed niche of quality beach volleyball training on the Central Coast. We want to give as many young athletes the opportunity to learn about the great sport of beach volleyball as possible! Since our inception in 2013, we have grown in participants every year, adding more sessions and more opportunities for advanced level play (read about our ELITE training program here). We train boys and girls age 8+ (varies depending on the session) and of all experience levels and abilities. Our coaching staff includes talented men and women with college indoor and beach volleyball playing experience, High School Varsity Volleyball Coaches, and some PBVBC Alumni!
Beach volleyball has been an NCAA Division 1 sport since 2012, and High Schools are to add beach volleyball as a CIF sport--rather than a club sport--in 2021 or 2022. Because of its rapid growth, we believe it is important that players interested in beach volleyball train specifically for beach! We are the only club in San Luis Obispo County dedicated to the sport of beach volleyball and every year try to grow the club to offer more opportunities for the most competitive play possible. We plan on expanding our ELITE training program in 2022 to a travel program for both Middle School and High School Players, where Coaches and players travel through California tournaments together to compete. Beach Volleyball vs. Indoor Volleyball: This 2v2 sport is unique from indoor 6v6 in that every player must serve, pass, set, and hit! Every player touches the ball on every rally! Players must cover more court which means they get faster and smarter about their game. Unique and intimate chemistry is built when playing with just one partner throughout a match instead of 6-12 other players on a team. Athletes learn not just about the game but about themselves. Life skills we value and cultivate through the sport of beach volleyball:
Practices: Players are grouped into cohorts based on a skill assessment, with constant re-evaluation so each player receives the most appropriate training and competition possible (the ELITE group requires a tryout and remains in their cohort the entire session). Player to coach ratio is usually 8:1 and no more than 10:1. Each 2 hour training period includes dynamic warm-up, conditioning, drills, and playing time led by experienced and talented coaches. Coaches give individual feedback during all parts of training. What to bring: Comfortable clothing, flip-flops (for the restroom), refillable water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat/visor, and a good attitude! Cost: Spring: $180 for 8 sessions, (4 weeks) of training, T-shirt included. Summer: $245 for 11 sessions, (6 weeks) of training, T-shirt included. Location: Wadsworth Courts North of the pier in Pismo Beach, down the stairs from the Sea Gypsy motel (see map below) |
